Resonance
Art + Creative Direction
Resonance captures the fluidity of thought through the expressive movement of brushstrokes. Hand-painted by Astek’s in-house design team, each design reflects a state of calm, where gestural marks flow freely, evoking a serene stream of consciousness. These designs invite a quiet, contemplative experience, where the rhythm of the brush connects seamlessly with the tranquility of the mind.

Created by the in-house design team at Astek, Resonance emerged from a studio-wide creative prompt that explored the concepts of gesture, flow, and emotional mark-making. Designers were invited to work on a large scale, using black gesso on oversized paper; an intentional choice that encouraged full-body movement and intuitive expression.
The process was rooted in mindfulness. Sessions were guided by both silence and music, allowing each artist to respond physically rather than intellectually. The goal was not perfection, but presence, with each stroke a reflection of internal rhythm and motion.
This collection is informed by the traditions of expressive abstraction, from Franz Kline’s forceful brushwork to the cyclical motion of Japanese Ensō. References such as Cy Twombly, Sol LeWitt, and Agnes Martin influenced the tone, emphasizing meditative repetition, intentional imperfection, and visual stillness.
Through collaborative curation, the most resonant studies were refined and translated into large-scale mural designs. The final pieces capture the intersection of movement and restraint, gestures that feel both spontaneous and serene.
As Creative Director, working closely with Astek’s senior creative team, I led the conceptual development and visual strategy, provided the design team with direction and reference material, and oversaw the final artwork selections and refinements to ensure a cohesive, expressive collection that balances mood, form, and spatial impact.
